In 2001 I was fortunate enough to meet and film Pete Mckenzie in his hometown of Moseley Birmingham. Pete was a true “one-off” character who lived his life the way he wanted and not how society dictated.

He dressed like a cowboy, complete with Stetson hat. He made leather lighter cases complete with lighter and gave them away and he spent each and every day barefoot.

During the filming, Pete who had become a legend in Moseley and was well know by people in the village and the wider community of Birmingham recounts of the reasons why he never wears socks or shoes and the little quirks that made him a really interesting bloke.

Pete sadly passed recently at the age of 73 and I thought it appropriate to share the video on Youtube, so that his friends and family could enjoy seeing and hearing his story.

The video was filmed before widescreen and 4K cameras were available and is of standard quality. However the thirty-minute documentary is reaching close to over 1,000 views and likes. It has also received interest from BBC Midlands Today who would like to feature a short clip of the video, on their Tuesday night evening news programme at 6:30pm.

For us as a professional video company, we would always insist to our clients that their videos should be filmed using our cinema quality 4K cameras. However we also believe that everyone has a story to tell and at Mediabox Productions we focus on telling that story first and foremost.

We feel that this video proves that as long as the story is powerful enough and something that will appeal to a wide-ranging audience, it will hold the attention of the viewer.
